The Firm's Kansas City office seeks a highly motivated, detail-oriented Paralegal to support our growing mass tort and complex litigation practice.
Responsibilities
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Drafting and sending assorted documents to clients, counsel and courts as needed, such as correspondence, deposition notices, briefs, motions, orders, petitions, and discovery
- Filing and service of all documents
- Managing case deadlines across multiple cases filed in different jurisdictions
- Maintain a very busy caseload
- Assisting in document review and organization;
- Preparing privilege logs
- Assisting with depositions and digesting deposition transcripts
- Case maintenance (organization of files such as correspondence, pleadings, discovery, etc.)
- Reviewing court dockets;
- Assisting with witness interviews and communications
- Coordinating expert retention and medical defenses
- Calendar maintenance
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- 1+ years litigation experience, asbestos litigation a plus
- Strong Organization, oral and written communication, and analytical skills
- Prior trial support experience is advantageous
- Ability to learn quickly and function in a fast-paced environment
- Experienced with e-filing and e-service in multiple jurisdictions
- Creative problem solver who takes initiative to accomplish tasks with a minimal level of supervision
- Proficiency with PowerPoint and Excel
- Experienced with a variety of computer applications and internet programs: Microsoft Word, Outlook, LexisNexis, Westlaw, FileSite
