The Opportunity

This position works out of our Abbott Park, IL location in the GENC General Counsel division.

The paralegal will perform a variety of legal activities in accordance with the established standards of the legal profession to protect the organization's reputation and business interests and help ensure it complies with all relevant laws and regulations.

What You’ll Work On

Provides assistance to the healthcare, anti-corruption and trade compliance attorneys from Abbott’s Legal, Regulatory & Compliance (LRC) group by keeping abreast of legal developments in these areas (e.g., new laws and regulations and enforcement trends) and providing support for various tasks, including:Document Review and Preparation: Assist legal counsel in the review, drafting and maintenance of templates and other documents related to healthcare, anti-corruption and trade compliance.Training and Awareness: Assist in developing and delivering training programs, toolkits and awareness initiatives for employees.Project Management: Manage various project trackers on a regular basis, create follow-up reports and share with the teams.Knowledge Management: Support LRC’s ongoing, departmental Knowledge Management project by managing internal and external SharePoint sites.Periodic Legal Updates: Draft and review monthly legal newsletter highlighting US healthcare and global anti-corruption developments and updates for attorneys and assist with cross-functional dissemination. Use infographics and other tools develop these newsletters.

Position requires discretion, judgment, and critical thinking skills for identifying and resolving issues.Position also requires strengths in the following areas:Communication skills to effectively gather relevant information from business group, interact with others, both inside and outside the Company;Editing and analytical skills to review, draft and prepare documents;Organizational, project management and multitasking skills to manage multiple matters, set work priorities and meet required work deadlines.Occasionally performs independent problem-solving and propose solutions to Healthcare Compliance Attorneys. Required Qualifications

Associate Degree and relevant legal education (Paralegal certificate).1+ years of paralegal experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree and relevant legal education (Paralegal certificate).Generally, 4+ years of paralegal experience.Ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.Attention to detail, good judgment, and solid organization skills.

The base pay for this position is $54,000.00 – $108,000.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
