We are looking for an Associate General Counsel to join a growing team for an in-house position. This role will primarily support our product and regulatory functions. You will join a team of strong, experienced legal counsel as well as some of the best financial experts in the industry

Duties & Responsibilities

Act as a strategic partner with teams driving Best Egg’s growth agenda, including Product, Marketing, Credit, Operations, and Customer Experience. Advise and support the Compliance team in providing independent advisory and testing services. Research, track, report on federal, and state legal developments including changes and proposed changes to laws, rules, and regulations related to secured and unsecured personal loans; collaborate with the business lines to ensure compliance. Advise on the risks and opportunities related to growth initiatives. Review and comment on business and regulatory team policies and procedures, company training materials, and customer-facing collateral. Review and negotiate third-party service provider agreements. Always be prepared to pivot for unexpected development, fast-moving ideas, and creative solutions.

Requirements

Minimum of 8 years of legal experience with a minimum of 2+ years’ experience in consumer lending. J.D. from an accredited law school with strong academic credentials. Admitted to practice and in good standing in at least one state bar/jurisdiction. Knowledgeable in the full range of state and federal consumer lending laws, including TILA/Regulation Z, ECOA/Regulation B, FCRA/Regulation V, FDCPA, TCPA, SCRA/MLA, ESIGN, UDAAP, and state consumer lending and licensing lawsStrong market knowledge and decision-making skills. Ability to build internal relationships with department heads, colleagues across the company, and counterparts within our banking partners. Strong organizational, analytical, and time management skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills - the ability to work independently, influence business leaders, respond proactively to business needs, and interact effectively with all levels of staff and management. Strong team player, comfortable asking questions, learning, and sharing best practices. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to frequently changing priorities. Ability to work effectively and productively in a largely remote environment, with occasional travel to the Wilmington, DE head office when necessary.

$180,000 - $200,000 a year

In addition to semi-monthly salary payments, this position is also eligible for an annual incentive bonus based on individual and company performance. Yearly incentive bonus target 25% of base salary.
