Managing Counsel, Digital Payment Solutions

What does a successful Managing Counsel do at Fiserv?

As Managing Counsel, you will provide legal support to Fiserv’s Digital Payment Solutions business encompassing the division’s full portfolio of technology solutions including, financial institution bill payments, person-to-person payments, account-to-account transfers and other money movement services, and data aggregation and verification services. You will prepare and negotiate contracts in support of sales executives and client account managers. As a Managing Counsel at Fiserv, you can look forward to developing strong knowledge of laws and regulations applicable to corporations in general, specifically technology services, software licensing companies and financial institutions.

What You Will Do

  • Work directly with business unit leaders to prepare and negotiate client, vendor and other technology-related and commercial agreements for the Fiserv Digital Payment Solutions business.
  • You will provide counsel to sales, account management, product, implementation, and technology leaders on legal, contractual and risk matters impacting their areas of responsibility.
  • Provide consultation and legal advice with respect to strategic initiatives, technology projects, customer and vendor contracts, intellectual property, dispute resolution, regulatory matters, corporate policies and procedures, and administration.
  • Effectively interact with corporate specialists regarding finance, audit, tax, publicity/press, intellectual property (including patent applications), litigation, regulatory, privacy and technology matters that affect the business divisions.
  • Maintain knowledge of industry best practices and applicable legislation affecting the operations of the business divisions.
  • Develop and maintain forms of contracts and other legal documentation.

What You Will Need To Have

  • Juris Doctor from accredited law school
  • License to practice law in the appropriate jurisdiction
  • 8+ years of relevant experience negotiating, drafting, and redlining contracts and providing regulatory guidance

What Would Be Great To Have

  • In good standing with State Bar with no disciplinary record
  • Background in financial services industry or technology, business-minded orientation with a genuine interest in learning, understanding and contributing to the strategic direction of the business.
  • Strong knowledge of laws and regulations applicable to corporations in general, specifically technology services and software licensing companies.
  • Demonstrated negotiation skills and the ability to provide sound solutions to our clients. Knows when to escalate to appropriate business leads and division counsel.
