The Director of Contracts Management and Legal Operations will build the contracting and operational foundation of the legal department. This role will collaborate cross-functionally, work with third party vendors and partners, and ensure alignment with operational objectives and enterprise risk. The role will develop the legal department infrastructure to scale the contracts function, as well as build a foundation for efficient work flow expansion through the department.
Responsibilities
Lead the review, edit, drafting and negotiation of contracts across the enterprise.Partner with business to evaluate risk and assist in the execution of a wide variety of contracts, including agreements for clinical and non-clinical studies, manufacturing and supply, consulting and professional services, research and development, privacy, quality, and general administrative functions.Manage external legal vendors and law firms to ensure timely execution of agreements, while ensuring alignment with budget constraints.Support business in dispute management and dispute resolution, including engaging and working with external counsel, establishing background factual information related to legal issues, and partnering with business units to efficiently resolve challenges.Build operational infrastructure of legal department necessary to support scale, including development of contract templates, playbooks, workflow tools and contract dashboards. Additional projects to include centralization of knowledge management, outside counsel standards, and budget management support.
Qualifications
Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school strongly preferred.Minimum 5 years’ experience in relevant role supporting a biotechnology and/or pharmaceutical company.Excellent drafting, negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with close attention to detail and a solutions-oriented approach.Working knowledge and understanding of applicable healthcare law, contracts, intellectual property, data privacy, and regulatory compliance.Outstanding organizational skills with ability to work efficiently and independently in a team environment.Ability to effectively communicate complex legal concepts and provide practical, business advice to non-legal stakeholders.Strong collaborator with ability to build internal and external relationships, and to collaborate regularly with cross-functional networks.Ability to handle multiple tasks in a high-paced environment, and balance competing priorities and timelines.
At Kailera, we are committed to fostering an inclusive culture. How we treat our people is reflective of this commitment. We share the pay range for this particular role with the actual base salary depending upon factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, market factors, and experience.
Salary Range
$175,000—$230,000 USD
