Fidelity National Title Insurance Company is seeking a title insurance professional to fill an Underwriting Counsel role for our Kansas, Missouri and Nebraska Operations. Location is flexible within the area.

From day one, you will have frequent interaction with our agents, clients and professional partners including managers, owners, attorneys and mortgage professionals as well as various outside vendors.

You will be involved in a wide range of critical underwriting functions and decisions. You will provide underwriting support and expertise to our agents related to the issuance of title insurance commitments and policies while utilizing sound underwriting standards and guidelines within delegated authority limits.

You will have the opportunity and responsibility to:

  • develop and maintain strong business relationships with our agents,
  • visit with our agents in person, on the phone and via TEAMS, Zoom, etc.
  • answer underwriting questions from and resolve issues for our agents,
  • train our agents on a wide variety of underwriting topics, regulations and changes in the title insurance industry,
  • participate with other underwriters, management and other partners in underwriter initiatives around product development, processes, underwriting policy and strategy,
  • work with account managers to meet and exceed the needs of our agents, and
  • plan and participate in underwriting meetings.

Qualifications and Experience

Law degree required. Be admitted to practice and in good standing in Kansas, Missouri and/or Nebraska.

Title insurance underwriting experience is preferred but not required. Demonstrated advanced practical experience with concepts, practices and procedures of real estate and or title insurance. Excellent communication and leadership skills, leading by example, driving employee commitment through actions. High level of business acumen, strategic ability, ability to develop others and influence change. Exercises high degree of confidence, sound judgment and decision making. Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task, prioritize and work under pressure. Capable of building strong relationships and creating rapport. Ability to resolve complex issues using abstract thinking and creativity.
