Regulatory Action on AI Discrimination and Bias - The FTC, The DOJ Civil Rights Division, The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, and The US EEOC release a statement about their collective stance on responsible innovation in automated systems. At the same time, the European Parliament is set to propose stricter rules for foundation models like ChatGPT and distinguish them from general purpose AI.

UK Stops Activision Deal - Antitrust regulators for the UK's Competition and Markets Authority declared they intend to block the deal, noting Microsofts' bid to purchase Activision Blizzard "failed to effectively address the concerns in the cloud gaming sector." 

PwC Invests $1B in AI - the investment is geared towards training tax accountants, auditors and consultants on AI to improve the work they do for clients over the next three years. 

ABA shows an increase in jobs for new lawyers. The employment rate for 2022 law school graduates is 84.6%, compared to 83% for 2021 graduates. This is the second consecutive year of positive job growth.

South Carolina State Conference of the NAACP v. Kohn et al - The recent ruling in this case denies the motion to dismiss the lawsuit brought by the NAACP alleging that South Carolina's categorical ban on automated data collection violates the First Amendment. It's an important victory for open data advocates and is likely headed to the supreme court. 

Tesla Legal Team Refuse to Produce Musk in Deposition - Attorneys for Musk are refusing to allow him to answer questions in a deposition regarding his past safety claims about Teslas' self-driving features, arguing the statements at issue might have been digitally altered deepfakes.  

Justice Richard Bernstein Urges Struggling Lawyers to Seek Help - the Michigan Supreme Court Justice stated he has chosen to participate in a short-term mental health treatment and has encouraged "everyone who struggles to seek the help they need".
